Falcon First Day Ready

The First Day庐 program, hosted by the 福利姬 State Bookstore in partnership with Barnes & Noble College, allows students to receive their digital course materials directly in their course on the first day of class for a reduced cost.

Students do not need to come to the bookstore to order anything for courses that participate in First Day庐 Access. Charges for First Day庐 courses are billed directly to the students鈥� account, with financial aid applied against those charges if appropriate.

How Falcon First Day Works

REGISTER FOR CLASSES

  • You will automatically be enrolled in the program for your participating courses. You will also receive a welcome email to the First Day庐 program.

ACCESS COURSE MATERIALS

  • Access your digital course materials directly within Falcon Online.
  • Log into using your school credentials and click the Course Materials link.

PAY YOUR STUDENT ACCOUNT

The First Day庐 digital course materials charge(s) will be placed on your account during the second week of class, so you will be able to access your materials on the first day of class but you will not see the charge until after the Add/Drop period.

If you have financial aid in excess of your tuition, fees, and other Bookstore purchases, your charges should be covered. It is important to monitor your student account on to ensure that financial aid covers your charges. You are responsible for all First Day charges posted to your account. If you do not have financial aid, you will need to pay online through or visit the Student Accounts Office.

If you are paying for tuition/books with a Veteran Affairs (1905), Vocational Rehabilitation, or other third-party voucher, you will need to Opt-Out and obtain your course materials from the 福利姬 Bookstore. Chapter 31/VRE students please check with the school certifying official before using this program.

  • Can I opt-out of First Day course materials?

    Students may opt-out of purchasing the First Day digital course materials by the add/drop date, however, students are still responsible for completing all work assigned by their professor. To opt-out, follow these directions:

    • Log into
    • Navigate to your course.
    • Click on the BNC Course Materials located in the left-hand course menu.
    • After clicking First Day Access you will be redirected to the First Day Access page.
    • Click the Opt-Out link on the right side of the window. On this page you will also see the opt-in price and the deadline to make a decision.
    • A pop-up window will open asking you to confirm that you would like to opt-out. Select the check box and click Confirm to opt-out.
    • You will then get the confirmation page that you have opted-out.

     
  • What if i miss the opt-out deadline?

    We at the bookstore understand that students may have a schedule change after the opt-out date and not wish to participate in the program. For any of these instances, the bookstore will do our best to accommodate these students.

  • What are the benefits of First Day (Course Materials)?
    • First Day materials are digitally accessible, so they go where you go, on whichever device you want.
    • The cost of First Day course materials has been negotiated to the lowest price available from the publisher.
    • Students are prepared with their required course materials on the first day of class, which leads to greater student success.
  • What if I want a physical copy of the book?

    Some publishers give students the additional option of purchasing an affordable loose-leaf copy of the book through the DSC Bookstore. Please contact the bookstore for more details. 
  • What happens if I drop a First Day class?
    • If you drop a First Day course by the add/drop date, your student account will not be charged for the course materials.
    • Access to the digital course materials will be removed from Falcon Online.
    • If you add the course back, your student account will be charged the First Day Course materials cost.
